What do I need to update 2008 maps to 2009on my Nuvi 360? Each time I try Mapsource adds 2009 instead to replacing. Plus because it adding I can't add the entire NA 2009 because I have only 700 mb free. How do I make 2009 the base map? thx in advance.

Assuming you have successfully unlocked the 2009 maps, connect your Nuvi to your computer via the USB cable and then using Windows Explorer, browse to the Nuvi's disk. Go into the Garmin folder and make a backup copy of the gmapprom.img file to your computer. This is a huge file, so it will take a while to copy this file. After the copy is done, delete this file from your Nuvi. Then use Mapsourse to select the entire 2009 update map and send it to the Nuvi. Mapsource will build the correct image file and transfer it to the Nuvi (this too takes almost an hour).

Thanks jakas but that was what I had done. Tried it again but the maps still installed as supplement. I just turned around and renamed the file and that worked. Problem with the supplement file was everytime I install Canadian Topo maps it wrote the new maps.

I am confused. What are the differences with the other North America NT 2009 map? This is one is way larger in file size? The other one (excluding Canada) is less 1GB in size.

The original comes in a DVD (4.7GB but has been used only 4.59GB)...

You need to install mapsource to you PC first then you can select which region of the Map you want to install to your PDA.

when you selec the entire 2009 map, do you saw the "section" (sector selected) because i make same on SD cart whit city navigator europe, and when unzoom map i saw the little sector ! i dont saw this whit the original inside memory map or legal update whit product key (not the unlock key whit keygen)

i just updated to the 2009 map with the help of this thread thanks again damon but now when i turn on my gps the background color is white instead of blue how it used to be

i resored all the settings than it turned back to blue , but now the next day i turned it on and the background color on all the tabs is white again , i tried to restore all the default settings again but this time nothing happened

i have a nuvi 660

I have several questions if you can help.
I have a DVD called upgrade City Navigator North America 2009.
I see their are Keygens out their but they want to know Map/Product ID Code. I see codes for the NT version (325) but not sure if the NT and Non NT are different. My disc says nothing about NT on its label.
Right now I have City Navigator 2007 and upgrade 2008 installed on my computer. Will the Keygen create a code to allow me to install the upgrade 2009 on my computer and also install the same on my 2610 Street Pilot.
I need to know how to find the map/product code for non NT City Navigator 2009.
I guess the bottom line is to get a unlock code to use the program.

4)Create yourself a key for Mapsource using the Map ID: 325
Load new maps to your GPS.

for nuvis it is straight forward , delete the old and replace it with the new

Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2009

gmapprom.img 965,728 KB was the original size of my Nuvi 350 with us maps v8 on it.

I cannot for the life of me find out how simply get the 2009 gmapprom.img file to send to my device. :confused:

All my maps are unlocked and currently on my PC. The only option I see in mapsource is clicking each region one by one by one by one, etc.

What is the method for a nuvi 350 user to get the single file to send to there device. BTW, yes I did manage to backup my original .img file from the device before I deleted it. :)

Got the downloads, the map & the unlocker v.1.5
Downloaded & installed Mapsource on my PC.
Ran CNNANT2009Update_enu.msi & it installed the map on my PC.
Ran the keygen & got an unlock code.
Hit CTRL-U in Mapsource to unlock the map. Selected the 2009 map & then clicked Unlock online.

Now what? It asks for my Nuvi's info instead of letting me unlock the new map on the computer.
Can it be unlocked without going online?
What did I do wrong?

I downloaded the Garmin nuvi GPS North America 2009 + Kegon from ThePirateBay.

I got the Garmin Map update to work all the way up to the Product Key.

I have the Garmin Unlock Generator also working. I put in the unit ID. I don't understand what to do next.

Do I get the (Software unlock code) or the (Map unlock code).

When I get the #. What do I do with it. I tryed paisting it on a notebook and copying it to my Nuvi. I got Lost after that.:eek:

You install the package on your PC, then once it's unlocked you can upload to the Garmin.


My version of the instructions....

Here is the instructions that I used to update my GPS:

1. Run, :\Windows\MSI\CNNANT2009Update_ENU.msi and install the new maps onto hard drive.

2. Install MapSource onto computer.

3. Connect GPS to computer.

4. Using MapSource, get the Unit ID via Utilities/Get Unit ID. Write it down.

5. Use Garmin Unlock Utility

Here is my version of the instructions.
5. Use Garmin Unlock Utility – KeyGen v.1.5. Enter your Unit ID, Select map product & click the lower generate button. Additional button clicks will produce additional codes for the new software.

6. In Mapsource, unlock the new maps using the generated unlock code. To do this, select Utilities / manage Map Products. Your 2009 Map should be listed. Select the Unlock Regions tab then click Add. Enter the unlock code you got from the KeyGen & click OK.

7. Backup then delete the file, gmapsupp.img from the folder, :\Garmin\ in your GPS unit using Windows Explorer. Backup may take a long time.

I recently purchased a Oregon 400t just to play around with it, my plan is to take it back and get the 300 and upload the topo maps and city navigator US for free, since that is the sneaky and most desired way I do things. I have read just about every post on this website along with pirate bay and decided to give this a try.

So I downloaded the city navigator Northamerica 2008 thanks to hackpig, followed all the instructions, but I am stuck and hoping someone can help. This is where I'm at.

I downloaded the garmin unlock utility program, I believe I was able to find the product id, but this did not just pop up like posts made it seem so I went into GarminDevice XML file, found an ID, not sure if this is what I need, but I was able to generate a software unlock code and map unlock code, not sure where I need to enter these codes yet. At this point I was able to continue on with the software install on my garmin, but came to the "enter product key" page, I thought maybe this is where I would enter either the software or map unlock code, but neither worked, THIS IS WHERE I AM STUCK. can anyone help me on what to do next?????

I have also seen the whole "MapSouce" name thrown around a million times, but can't seem to find what this is or where I get it, but I think I might need it. Also I read a lot about the "gmapprom.img file" and I am supposed to back it up and delete it, but can't quite seem to figure out the correct operation either.

Like everyone else who is STUCK I have spent hours reading posts and following directions, but can't get it to work, so I am posting my own for some help from one of you PIMPS out there that can help get this shit for FREE, cause thats what we are here for right?.

I just got the 2009 NA update for my Garmin C340 and I am confused. I have the V1.5 Keygen to unlock device and maps. The update program asks for a product key to install. Posts state to just run the Enlish MSI to get around asking for the product key but when I do that I get an "installer error" Help!! Do I have a bad/corrupted download, etc???

Assuming you have successfully unlocked the 2009 maps, connect your Nuvi to your computer via the USB cable and then using Windows Explorer, browse to the Nuvi's disk. Go into the Garmin folder and make a backup copy of the gmapprom.img file to your computer. This is a huge file, so it will take a while to copy this file. After the copy is done, delete this file from your Nuvi. Then use Mapsourse to select the entire 2009 update map and send it to the Nuvi. Mapsource will build the correct image file and transfer it to the Nuvi (this too takes almost an hour).

I have deleted the gmapprom.img file from my nuvi 650. However, there is still not enough room available on the drive to receive the entire 2009 update map from Mapsource. I know that I can choose less of the entire map, but if I had a legit prduct code I assume that the entire map would transfer. Am I missing something?

The "Product Key" that comes with each copy of the Map software is only good for one Nuvi device software update. During the software update process there is an interaction with the Garmin server. The Product Key is logged on the Garmin server and cannot be used again for a different device.

Using Hackpig's torrent allows you to open Mapsource and then choose the areas that you wish to download to your GPS device (as long as there is adequate space on the device). You will have to generate a code using the "Keygen" torrent in order to interface with you GPS device.

Look over some of the older comments to find out how to do this.

1st Look in the Thread and download the img file. post 17,19 or 20
2nd Backup the GPS Garmin folder to you computer.
3rd Rename the downloaded file to gmapprom.img
4th Copy / replace the above file to Gramin folder on your gps
5th Find your unit id (off you head I can't remember how)
6th Run the keygen program
7th Using you gps id and map 396 generate the unlock key
8th open notepad
9th Copy and Paste the unlock code into the notepad
10th Save the notepad file to your gps Gramin folder as gmapprom.unl

Enjoy the map....

I don't think you realize what he is saying I just got a 2720 and have the same problem.
the drive in the 2720 does not show up as a drive in the computer
also installing the new mapset like 2009 NT only adds maps mine has 2008 installed and it won't erase those and install all of 2009 update not enough room on memory and it will only install most of the USA not all of it
how do you erase the orginal maps in my case 2008 and do a full install of 2009 NT
I have had many Garmins and this is not normal
