Hi folks. I'm a newbie. I have several questions. I can't seem to figure out which version I need nor how to get it onto a dvd. I have a 2003 BMW M5. I'm fairly certain I need some sort of 2008 "high" version for N. America as the latest 2009.1 High will work in my vehicle.

1. What's the most recent BMW version available in the download area?
I see 2008-02-High. Is this for N. America? I also see 2008-01-North America for iDrive. Is this the same as 2008.1 High?

2. I assume I must download each file to a folder, then burn the files to a dvd. I'm confused over how to I create the dvd for use in my vehicle? After downloading, do I need to open the files or leave them in their current format and burn them to the dvd?

3. Is there a particular type of dvd-r I must use?

Thanks,
Raf

Hi,

the right needed version is depending on your car model. During year 2003 bmw changed their model bmw 5 in verison e60. Until then it was the model e39.

Subordinating you drive the version e60 (newest model) you need the navi professional verison (readily identifiable big display) The newest map version is 2009-1.

If you take your needed files (type .rar) from rapishare you will get particular archives. You have to consist them with the program winrar.

the idrive nav has two versions, professional and bussines, professional has 8 inch screen and the bussines has a 6 inch screen, the 1,3,5,6,7 and x3,x5 series bmw can all have idrive nav depending on the year it was built, the high discs are for the older mk4 navigation fitted to older bmw cars

Gentlemen thank you for the help. According to Navteq my car can use the 2009.1 North America High. I'm ok with a 2007 or 2008 DVD because currently I'm running something much older. Really I just need help figuring out how to download from the download area. Do I download each individual file into a new folder then burn them to a DVD-r? Is there a type of DVD-r which works best?

Thank you in advance.

You download all individual files into one separate folder.
Once you get them all together you use a program like WINRAR to unrar all files and you will end up with an ISO image of the DVD you want.
Just OPEN the iso file in any DVD writing software to a normal DVD5 using the lowest allowed speed.
Good luck

The BMW High 2009-1 is a phony because this is the 2007-2 edition and wrongly labeld for date and for coverage.
