I you fix the gps with the first release (with ttnbot.exe) you get an error message : "not enough memory...."
But you don't need to fix gps for generate a planned route, look my tutorial and you can choosing a destination with an other letter...
Send me a private message if you have problem again...;)

You do not have to select Navigate
To to make a route simply scroll to the second page and select A to B route plan its the first top left icon this will calculate route's with out the need for a gps signal. This way you can then select view route and demo to get a nice little demo of any route before taking it lol

Hello Demonfatal;
Thanks for your tuto and sharing your exprience with us.
If I understand the method: we use TT7Bot to create a valid MapSettings.cfg , then
we use a wrapper around tomtom7 in a script that copy/save this valid file.
So why we do not simply keep using TT7Bot ?
TT7Bot will not work for the normal usage ?
merci !

No because the first release with TT7Bot in "navigator" directory CRASH if you fix sattelites !
With my second release :
"TT7.WCE.4.2" directory > tomtom 7 works fine if you have generate a "MapSettings.cfg" file with the first release...;)

Thanks DemonFatal,
Its working.....
After the wrong input in the script, the delete action was fired... so no cfg-file.
After putting back the cfg-file and updating the script it works.

Huge thanks to demonfatal
got this working on my lidl/silvercrest/typhoon myguide 4200 and its working perfectly, no problems what so ever.
only slight issue is that it doesnt save my home location and always has a route set when i turn it on,
i might save a backup of the SD card and try another install but this time might configure the stuff before i do the 3rd or 4th procedure.
thanks again

heres a update :
i did try another install and changed a few settings like the lauguage and the home location but it refused to start with a memory error.
i tried again but this time only with the home location and it is fine. got my home location set :)
now ive noticed it doesnt store the favourite locations, might try it again but with the three/four fav's i have and see..
so after you finish setting a advance route set your home location if you can and your fav's. somtimes it crashes but i just delete the map...cfg file in the map's folder and try again.
hope this helps
thanks again

Hi Demon fatal finally managed to run it on my MIO 310x following the directions Works good thus far. The problem was the 725.1803 map but it works perfectly with the 725.1905 map. Thanks. Also a note tt7 navigator.exe might crash 2-3 times initially but after that it works so don't give up

Hi Demonfatal
I have a Chinese 7" screen PNA in my car running WINCE 4.2. When you enter GPS mode you can navigate to the .exe file to tell the system to load the software when it then defaults to.
I have followed your tutorial and at step 15 ("TTN7BOT.EXE") the TomTom logo shows but the PNA crashes with 'unable to load - insufficient memory'. The PNA seems to fix satellites when the unit is switched on and I can't disable that function. I have tried UK and Western Europe maps.
I can get IGO and MIOMap to work but really I want TomTom.
Do you have any ideas please? Many thanks for your efforts.

I copied the MapSettings.cfg from a Mio c320 per the instructions in your tutorial demonfatal. TomTom then works well up until I select the voice (except for the time jumping around strangely). After selecting the voice, it crashes. Subsequent attempts to restart will not even display the TT7 splash screen. If I remove and then recopy the 'TT7.WCE.4.2' directory, then I can perform the setup again but it still crashes after I select the voice. I noticed that after the crash, there is no MapSettings.cfg in the map directory.
Oh yeah, this is on an Invion 4v506.

hi demonfatal
for me 7.950 works OK
but I noticed that favorites and Home location are not stored :-(
I create a new fav, I exit (with exit in TT menu, or button af my GPS)
And when I re-launch TT7, fav is gone ...
Have you that pb ?...
Am I doing something wrong
Also, it's annoying that each time TT starts, it re-calculate the prepared route used to generate good mapsetting ...

If you don't use the file "mapsettings.cfg" in "mapsettings" folder Tomtom don't works...
For change the file just create a new trip in tomtom then close it and copy the file "mapsettings.cfg" in your map folder then paste the file into "mapsettings" folder and replace the file...;)

Because you need the script for use tomtom on your device
> The script copy the file "mapsettings.cfg" in "mapsettings" folder each time you run tomtom
And the last file "mapsettings.cfg" in your map folder is replaced by this one...;)

I have followed the tutorial using the files mentioned above however my ttnavigator.bif file returns the following
DeviceSerialNumber=
DeviceUniqueID=**********
i'm trying this on a pioneer AVIC-S2. All help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all your efforts Demonfatal, it's great that you're going to the effort of putting all this info out there!
I'm installing this on an old random SatNav (Evsham Nav-Cam 7000) that started having a lot of errors, and no longer even runs it's own software!
It runs Windows CE .NET 4.2 so It should be OK.
So I was about to stick it in the bin and figured I'd give TomTom a go first!
I followed your guide, couldn't get file 2 to work for some reason. TTN7BOT.exe said it wasn't a valid application.
Then I ran 'Tom Tom Navigator' which booted fine and asked me to register the maps. I had to use a different keygen, but that worked too) So it it does appear to be registered, and should be OK.
Problem is, it crashes every time it starts, saying 'not enough memory'.
I've gone to the control panel of the device and allocated all possible memory to running programs.
Then I tried putting the program onto the device instead of the SD card.
I tried changing the registry to boot straight into TomTom rather than into Windows explorer. But the same happened.
Is it really out of memory? Or is there another error?
(I'm using maps 6.75)

Thanks for the tutorial. I don't know if this is new or not, but I get it to work on my Pharos 150 PNA using only file 1 at [Only Registered Users Can See Links] (navigator). I used a 7.75 map cracked with the keygen at the same website. But I did have used an older version of TTN on the same unit before, which I have to remove in order to make space for the new NA maps. I didn't copy the Mapsettings and didn't use the files in WCE.4.2.

Hi demonfatal. Thank you for this outstanding tutorial.
I have a WinCE 4.2 device (Shinelco GPS3400 based on the Central Pacific GP-75). I followed your tutorial but I get stuck right at the beginning. When I try to run TTN7BOT.exe I get the error " 'TTN7BOT' is not a valid Windows CE application.". I think this means that the file is not compiled for my Samsung ARM processor but I find that strange since I can run the "TomTom Navigator.exe" file. However, and here is my actual problem, when I run this file TomTom freezes at the startup / splashscreen. Nothing else happens. Do you have any idea why this happens? It happens whether or not I have maps present in the root of the storage card (I used Iberia Iberia_815_2023 maps which I think are compatible by the way).
Thanks in advance!

Really appreciate your efforts but I can't get it to work so I have a couple questions.
What is the directory structure naming convention supposed to be? I am using the North America and Canadian maps so right now, my structure looks like
Storage Card
TomTom
navigator USA_and_Canada_v815.2022
I did everything in the tutorial but when I run TTN7BOT.EXE, the display is non-english so I have no clue what it says. The first screen says
Geen kaarten gevonden!
with a single button on the right side that says Volgende
How do I change it to English and what am I doing wrong?
Thanks again for all your hard work...

Just look that for change the language:
[Only Registered Users Can See Links]*&p_li=&p_topview=1 ;)
Ok, I redid the entire process. When I get to step 15, the program runs but then I see a screen that has Kies een kaart: in the top left hand corner and 2 entries that say USA and Canada
I am using the USA and Canada map but I only have one on the card so I have no idea why it lists it twice.
At the bottom are 2 buttons, the one on the left says Voucher and the one on the right says OK. When I press OK, it crashes. When I press Voucher, it says
Activering mislukt
Dit is helaas niet de juiste activeringscode voor het product 'USA_and_Canada'
with a button labeled Doorgaan
Man am I stumped now!

Thanks for the link, demonfatal. I already tried that method before, but with no luck. Also, it is for another GPS Model (GPS3500 instead of GPS3400) which already has WinCE 5.
Is TomTom supposed to start (pass the splashscreen) when no maps are present in the SD card, i.e. when only the "navigator" folder is present?

How do you use the keygen ??
First off, I want to thank you for taking the time to respond. I really appreciate it.
I find your tutorial very well written, clear and very easy to follow. I think that is what is frustrating me most! It looks so easy!
I used Babel Fish to translate the screen/buttons and 'geen kaarten gevonden' translates to 'no cards found'. I really don't understand what that means since it has to be able to find the card if it can run TTN7BOT.EXE.
As far as using the keygen, I did exactly what is specified in the TOMTOM 7 on PNA with WINCE 4.20 (my device is a Mio c310x)
When using the keygen, I selected 1 then 1 and that failed twice so I tried 2 then 1 and that failed too.
I just can't get past step 15
Thanks again

I did the process twice again (starting fresh each time) and after each run of TTN7BOT.EXE, a file named ttnavigator.bif appears in the Storage Card root area which appears to be a duplicate copy of ttnavigator.bif which exists in the navigator folder.

Yes, the file created, ttnavigator.bif, is an exact duplicate.

If you're referring to me, then yes. I simply copied the whole folder "navigator" from the files of your tutorial. So, the note_prj.dll file is present.
The map is in the SD root, yes. It's Iberia_815_2023 taken from here [Only Registered Users Can See Links] (It says at the top that the 815.2023 maps are compatible with TomTom 7.4x and 7.9x).
Any other idea? Also, as I asked before, is TomTom even supposed to start (pass the Splash screen) if I place only the "navigator" folder in the SD root but without any map?

Yes tomtom must start without map but you need a map for access to the menu!
If tomtom don't find your map try this:
Look the registry of your device with the tool in attachment.
Then change that:
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Explorer\Shell Folders\' --> "My Document"
To
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Explorer\Shell Folders\' --> "Storage Card"
And try again...;)

For now I will try out iGO 8 which works on my device. Thanks demonfatal for your help!

Because you need the script for use tomtom on your device
> The script copy the file "mapsettings.cfg" in "mapsettings" folder each time you run tomtom
And the last file "mapsettings.cfg" in your map folder is replaced by this one...;)
I hope I'm not bringing destruction to the world, but I can run TomTom without using the script...
And yes, I've used your instructions! =)

hi demonfatal
for me 7.950 works OK
but I noticed that favorites and Home location are not stored :-(
I create a new fav, I exit (with exit in TT menu, or button af my GPS)
And when I re-launch TT7, fav is gone ...
Have you that pb ?...
Am I doing something wrong
Also, it's annoying that each time TT starts, it re-calculate the prepared route used to generate good mapsetting ...
Hi everybody,
I found a solution for the problem with storing the favorites in the the MapSettings.cfg file. When you delete the entries in the TT7 Navigator.mscr that it looks like this:
Errorlevel ("off")
RunWait ("\Storage Card\TT7.WCE.4.2\TomTom Navigator.exe")
Exit
Now you work directly with the MapSettings.cfg file and you don't have to copy and move it after a change.
@ Demonfatal, why do you have a delete and xcopy command in the TT7 Navigator.mscr file?
Kind regards

Because if you delete the trip in memory the next time the navigator stuck with a memory error message.
With the xcopy you keep always a valid mapsettings.cfg file and the navigator works fine!
Without that you get a memory error on WINCE device 4.2 ;)
Maybe try the version of poulopoulos (no file .mscr) ;)

My difference is I can get to the screen that has 3 buttons

Hi There.
I've succeeded on installing tomtom on my MyGuide PNA 4200. (bought from 1dayfly.nl a week ago)
But it seems he can't find any sattelites.
I've used 'other NMEA gps', '57600 baud', 'COM6'.
All other settings say 'no gps detected'
With the above setting, it says 'no good signal detected - are you in a building'?
Even after 10 minutes waiting: nothing...
Anyone any idea what I can do?
Tnx

didnt find it, but apparently I was reading your tutorial wrong at this point. So now I only get a memory error. How much memory is required to run it.
Also, the only way I am able to get files to run is to rename TTN7BOT.exe to mobilenavigator.exe
And for me they need to be in the \SDMMC\MobileNavigator folder
Edit, I can get it to run if I edit my registry
but it will only run on
\SDMMC\navigator\TTN7BOT.exe
I can not get it to run on
\SDMMC\TT7.WCE.4.2\TT7 Navigator.exe (nothing happens when I try to run this). I edited the TT7 Navigator.mscr correctly.
Is there any harm in getting it to run with:

First off. THANK YOU FOR THE GUIDE.
It worked like a charm!!
Now to the question.
the product is mio 269+ gps with 2,4 something GB internal storage.
Im able to run IGO 8 and IGO 8.3 and miomap from the internal storage without problems.
I installed TOMTOM 7 into the internal storage
I installede the map (i copied the folder from the sd car) also
so now the program and map are in the same root folder.
the location is.
storage device\mp3\tomtom\xxx and xxx
IT WILL NOT RUN unless the SD card is inserted with the map.
How?? :mad2:do I make tomtomt understand that I already have the map in the folder right beside it, so it should work just like it does with the SD card.
I just need to figure out how to make tomtom look in that folder instead of the SD card.
Help,, anyone??

You need "tomtom navigator.exe" file compressed with UPX ;)
as far as I understand, if you compress something with UPX, that something will need
even more memory to unpack its executable in RAM. why would one want to compress tomtom exe with UPX? it only saves disk space, not RAM.
7.910.9185 seems always to give not enough memory message at some point.
also what is the theory behind mapsettings.cfg file? why when you start with predefined
route, why tomtom doesnt give memory message? does this prerecorded route have to be short or long or doesnt matter? RAM is the biggest problem here, we need to free more of it in wince 4.2 somehow. i have managed to run 7.450 version, but struggling
with 7.910

On my Airis T920 with wince 4.2, I always had "Not enough memory" problem with TT 7.450 ot TT 7.910 until I found one day a post of a guy that was saying the problem was gone for him when the memory card had less than 20 Mb available space.
I cannot explain it but Iit simply worked for me too :)
I use "Huge fake file creator" freeware to create fake files on my SD card and to ensure it always has between 10 en 20Mb available space.
TT 7.910 runs flawlessly for months now ;)
@Danix: you have to use "Sunnysoft Backup Manager v3.3" to create an autoexec file for your Airis T920 that will automatically lauch TT when it starts from scratch.
Simply generate the exe file with this software, then rename it to "autorunce.exe" and put it in the Infinity folder on the SD card.
Hope that helps :biggrin1:

Hallo all
this is the first time I get into this forum, so sorry if maybe I'll ask for something already answered, or not in the correct way
I'm quite new on gps: I'm trying to install TOM TOM 7 on a Myguide 3000 navigator with Wince NEt 4.2 Core.
I followed carefully Demonfatal's tutorial, but when arriving at the last step, after having modified TT7 Navigator.mscr file, TT7 Navigator.exe doesn't start.
I modified addons.txt file so to have it launching clicking the icon on the screen, but nothing.
Even launching TT7 Navigator.exe directly from TT.WCE.4.2 directory on the SD Card, nothing happens.
I used the Central_and_Eastern_Europe map
Is there anything I have to look at to have it working?
I tried the whole installation twice from scratch, but same result
Many thanks

Same answer for you "France" here:
[Only Registered Users Can See Links]
Point the script to correct path and all is ok ;)
France

Thanks Demonfatal, I checked again the path and it seems to be correct:
my SD is named Storage Card
Directly on Storage Card I have the map folder (Central_end_Eastern_Europe) and the TT.WCE.4.2 one.
Mapsetting folder is inside TT.WCE.4.2.
The TT7 Navigator.mscr script is the following:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Errorlevel ("off")
Delete ("\Storage Card\Central_and_Eastern_Europe\MapSettings.cfg")
sleep 100
XCopy( "\Storage Card\TT7.WCE.4.2\MapSettings\*.*", ("\Storage Card\Central_and_Eastern_Europe\")
sleep 100
RunWait ("\Storage Card\TT7.WCE.4.2\TomTom Navigator.exe")
Exit
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
my addons.txt is instead:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[modules]
Games = "icons/games.bmp", "", 0
Navigatori = "icons/games.bmp", "", 0
Explorer = "", "\\Windows\\Explorer.exe"
[Navigatori]
TomTom7 = "", "\\Storage Card\\TT7.WCE.4.2\\TT7 Navigator.exe"
[Games]
Solitaire= "", "\\Storage Card\\games\\solitaire\\solitaire.exe"
Flux= "", "\\Storage Card\\games\\flux\\flux.exe"
Asia = "", "\\Storage Card\\games\\asia\\asia.exe"
Arvale = "", "\\Storage Card\\games\\arvale\\arvale.exe"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
what is wrong, in your opinion?
Thanks again

Hi i have followed your tutorial to install onto my mio c510. When i run ttn7bot.exe it can't find maps. Can you help?

Hi all, following my latest reply, I went through the process again, re-installing WCE.4.2 directory, creating a new MapConfig.cfg file with a different path and following Demonfatal's tutorial again, but final result was the same: TT7 Navigator.exe doesn't start (or anything happesn when I try to run it).
Is there any explanation?
I provided my .mscr file previously. From it I couldn't see anything wrong.
Thanks for your support

Hi all,
I'm trying to install TT on WinCE 4.2 device and have no success with it.
I follow the Demonfatal's tutorial and when I start TTN7BOT.EXE (maps are already activated) the application terminates after voice setup. If I have several maps activated it fails after choosing a certain map. So, I can't even reach the fixing GPS step. All further attempts to execute TTN7BOT.EXE or Tom Tom Navigator.exe give 'unable to start. not enough memory.' I have tried both the releases 7.450 and 7.910 with the same result.
Is it a typical problem? Is there any solution?
Thank you in advance!

Por fiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnn lo hice !!!
First of all sorry by my bad english.
Thanks DemonFatal i gonna remember your name(nick) for a lot of time (becouse of the passwords jeje). You are my hero ....
I have tried about 3 days to install this navigator and i have a lot of problems the mayority have benn mencionated here in the forum. But I have the tips to install (maybe there are mension here) and i hope that you can include this tips in your Tutorial Demon. They are obvius but some people like me can realize later jeje
1.) You have to know the name of your memory card or integrated card. My memory name is MMC_Storage where TT/ is gonna be installed.
2.- Correct the script TT7 Navigator.mscr and replace the word Storage Card by the name of your memory in my case MMC_Storage
3.- Remove one ( (parenthesis) in the code in the part of the xcopy
It have to be like this:
This not work for me
XCopy( "\Storage Card\Program Files\TomTom_7.450\MapSettings\*.*", ("\Storage Card\France_725.1871\")
This work for me
XCopy( "\MMC_Storage\TT7.WCE.4.2\MapSettings\*.*", "\MMC_Storage\Iberia-27\")
4.- In the steps 16 to 24: When you are going to create MapSettings.cfg, you have to be very fast when you run TTN7BOT.EXE becouse inmediately a meesage could appear and ask you to reset your pna (this depend of you pna) and not be able to create the file. Maybe you have to try a lot of times (I try 6 times). You have to try many different letters in many times if it is necesary, choosen the first option always in the step 19. remember be quickly. The file MapSettings.cfg have size about 3k if it is less (2k or 1k) something is wrong. (This cabe seeing in the memory view putted in the pna in the size field)
5.- the step 27 If you put a bad MapSettings.cfg file then when you run TT7 Navigator.exe in the step 34, it is gonna appear the memory problem.
6.- Finally in the installation of tt7 is gonna apear in the upper right side the charging of the routes in smaller phrases, if this no appear something wrong is gonna be happen (yeah problem memory). In the part when tomtom asking you to put your addres press the NO buttoon becouse if you put yes, for an strange reason it give a memory problem again. Then whe the installing is complete and you cna configurate you gps, is able to put your addres in the menu.
I want to share my MapSettings.cfg athaching in the post: this is for the spain and portugal map: Iberia 8.25-2159 version

After I got the file, I put it onto wince4.2 device, reactivated maps and run Tom Tom Navigator.exe. Here's my problem:
I followed your instructions to the letter, and managed to get TT working, but after i start TT it shows my position in Kiev and a "no gps device" below it
I got a Mio C310 and the Eastern Europe 830 2306 map.
BTW i couldn't start TT from the TT7 Navigator.exe file , but it starts from the TomTom navigator.exe file

Yes, because you have some wrong path in the script "TT7 Navigator.mscr", please check this file again. ;)
Thanks for the advice, i got the gps working that way, and the part about having the wrong path in the script "TT7 Navigator.mscr", do i have to change it? does it make any difference? It's working fine as it is

Try to create the "mapsettings.cfg" file with a WINCE 4.2 device. ;)
Hi Demonfatal,
I have been trying to create mapsettings.cfg within wince4.2 device, but the problem is that TTN7Bot.exe is abnormally terminated after the voice is set up. All the next attempts to run it give not enough memory message. If CurrentMap.dat or navigator.cfg are deleted from 'navigator' folder I can reach voice set up dialog again, but no more than that.. mobilenavigator.exe and TomTom Navigator.exe give not enough memory message.
So after 3 days of :banghead: I tried to use my wince5.0 device :) but again - no success..

Ehh, I did unlock my icn first, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to run the wrapper (TTN7BOT.EXE). I've really run out of options.
Can you confirm that the maps (815.2096) and the TT software form the tutorial ([Only Registered Users Can See Links] is this 7.45?) are compatible?

From all what I've been reading it all depends on the right installation and the settings in the Windows system.
The ICN series was very tricky from the beginning - I stopped trying on my 510 after I found out that I could not get it to "speed" - it was always "jumping" on the map.
But that was with the first 7.4 version.
I have not tried it myself ,but some ppl say IGO would be much easier - both for installation and for the user interface. That all depends of course on what you prefer.
If in doubt ,wait for demonfatal ,he knows a great deal of this installation procedure and the tweaking for WinCE4.2.
I assume you already disabled the power saving features in Windows?

If your system can't be unlocked it is very hard to get other software installed properly.
Sometimes it works if you install it into the games folder - if there are games on it and you are allowed to add some more.
Only other option I know is to use the same folder your old Navi spftware was using for the new software and rename the the file that starts it to exactly the same name that was used to start the old software.

Just to report back, I've got TT7.45 working on my Navman iCN 520 with Western and central European maps v 815.2096. Funny enough placing the Tomtom files in the TomTom directory of the SD root (instead of leaving them in TTce42 or something map) seemed to have done the trick...?
I also have had to replace the mapsettings.cfg with a backup one (after getting it working) when I had "tweaked" the 520 with some additional apps (pdfreader etc).
Just so you know, it can be done, but it's a fickle beast. As Demonfatal has described more than once, a good MapSettings.cfg is of paramount importance!
Thanks guys for all the help, and maybe... just very maybe I can be seduced in upgrading to 7.9 and the v830 maps later on... Oh well ;-)
edit:
Well, I decided to go ahead with 7.91 while I got the 7.45 working. I downloaded the upgrade from here ([Only Registered Users Can See Links]). Then got the 830.2306 maps on my device, ran the TT7bot form the tutorial to get a mapsettings.cfg, and then started form the 7.91 version. All good!
Some tips for fellow navman icn 520 users:
- check memory settings in configuraion/system/memory and make sure you allocate enough ram to get the progs running (doh!).
- once you have a good mapsettings.cfg, do make a backup, so that you can put it back with a filemanager (installed on the device) on the road
- TTNavigator.mscr: fixed with correct path and delete copy actions (not using this script, running Tomtom navigator.exe directly, but make sure to leave a route in place)
- Install dir: \Storage Card\TomTom
- GPS device setting: NMEA or other GPS device, 4800 baud, serial connection
current config:
TT: v7.910.9185
Map: Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_830_2306
Device: NAvman iCN 520
OS: WinCE 4.2
good luck!

I would say your error message means that you have not used the right meta code for the map activation or that the map is not properly activated.
Try it again with Easy Activator ([Only Registered Users Can See Links]) and make sure you have the right meta code in the file "meta.txt" .
The code is listed next to the download link of the map and be copied into the meta.txt by using a text editor.

@ ciccio87:
being Dutch myself I can confirm that "dit is helaas niet de juiste activeringscode voor het product 'Itlalia" means that its not the rigth activation code for the product.
When activating your map use the correct navcore version. When you are using the bot it should be activated for v7.45

for first thank you demonfatal for making all this nice Turtorials and possibilitys for us to use tom tom on Wince 4.2
i have one question about the tt7 Navigator.mscr script
i havent really undestand for what i have to use it if evrything is installed on PNA if your script stays its not possible to save poi settings and some other things like Routes he always want to start with the route we created when we installing
i edited the tt7 Navigator.mscr
from previous version
Errorlevel ("off")
Delete ("\SD Card\DEATCHaEE_830.2306\MapSettings.cfg")
sleep 100
XCopy( "\SD Card\TT7.WCE.4.2\MapSettings\*.*", ("\SD Card\DEATCHaEE_830.2306\")
sleep 100
RunWait ("\SD Card\TT7.WCE.4.2\TomTom Navigator.exe")
Exit
Errorlevel ("off")
RunWait ("\SD Card\TT7.WCE.4.2\TomTom Navigator.exe")
Exit
to this one and now my settings with all pois are working fine i am using tomtom 7.45 with cards 830.2306 on a Typhon 3500 go
next thing is that my card screen on navigating is very slow the voice comes in right time but often the map shows me too late i switched from 3d to 2d maybe you have any idea by the way for that little problem too
but i asume it depends on the sd cards that i use or that my Typhon 3500 go is to slow for the new cards on 8.30 series
with 6 and 7 version cards evrything works pretty fine

I would say your error message means that you have not used the right meta code for the map activation or that the map is not properly activated.
Try it again with Easy Activator ([Only Registered Users Can See Links]) and make sure you have the right meta code in the file "meta.txt" .
The code is listed next to the download link of the map and be copied into the meta.txt by using a text editor.
same error
I have the right meta code in the file "meta.txt" , same meta code of Italia_830_2306 in the first post of 8.30 maps!
I've deleted all flies and copied Navigator and map directory in main root of SDcard..followed the tutorial first and Easy Activator then...but this error returns! :18:
any idea? and if the system registry?

OK followed all instructions as best I could and I have a problem. Started my satnav, it found tom tom 7 and ran OK, loaded all the settings, time, voice etc then it came up with No Maps Found and the time in the top right hand corner is covering 24 hours in 3 seconds. Major help would really be appreciated in simplistic terms please. Many thanks in advance.

I just notice that TomTom always assumes the original route from the first installation and it doesn't saves the Favorites and Residence coordinates... You should fix it in your tutorial.
After the first run I changed the TT7 Navigator.mscr to:
________________________________
Errorlevel ("off")
RunWait ("\SDMMC\TT7.910\TomTom Navigator.exe")
Exit

it started saving my last destination and favorites....

If you always get "no map found" even after correct activation ,it is possible that you hav to copy the map folder into "My Documents" - create this folder if not existing.

Thanks for the reply Downunder35m
My system is an OEM version and this is the first time I have tried to put other maps on it, all Western Europe.
The folder my documents does exist it has also inside a folder called TomTom but that is empty, do I put it direct into My Documents or into the TomTom folder.
Everything on mine seems to run from the SD card so is there a way of making it point to the maps on the card, or is there some script that can be put into My Documents to make it go back to the maps on the SD card.
Jack
Tried putting the maps into My Documents and it reports not enough space to complete.

I can't help you with the "not enough space" message - free up some space or delete unused files - better : buy a bigger SD card :)
Check demonfatals tutorials - there is a lot of info in them on how to get working ,every device is deifferent and sometimes it is tricky to find the right folder that is accepted.
Try the Tomtom folder as well.

The not enough space is coming from my unit (My Documents) not my SD card as that is where you told me to copy the map folder. I think it is something to do with the script telling TomTom where to go, either in the shell or in the TT7 Navigator.mscr.

Hi Demonfatal.
Once again I have formatted my sd card and followed you tutorial using maps United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_830_2305 I created the United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-35.meta.dct then went to run (number 15 on the Tutorial) TTN7BOT.exe and got Geen Kaarten Gevonden! instead of the maps. What have I done wrong please.
Regards
Jack
I think I posted this elsewhere so sorry if I have duplicated this.
The shell on my card is \SDMMC\TT7.WCE.4.2\TT7 Navigator.exe
The script in MSCR is Errorlevel ("off")

Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all the required libraris are available."

That would be Dutch...
To change the Tomtom language klick on the sign that looks like a tool and use the arrows to scroll through the menu till you see some flags. Klick on the flags and select your language.

You can only use the 830.2290 till a new 835 PDA compatible map for Austalia is available.

Hi
I ask some help to you after a long and a long time in trying to start tomtom for my win ce 4.2, i will become crazy ... ^^
First, i have to say that I use a viamichelin x950t with leyto mod for put it as a tomtom gps.
[Only Registered Users Can See Links]
So I folloow step by step his tutorial, and my viamichelin is now modded.
But I don't find tomtom 6.2, so leyto advice me to use your tomtom 7 for wince 4.2
I follow step by step your tutorial, and in the step 4, when you say to launch ttn7bot.exe, I have this message :
TTN7BOT is not a valid Windows CE application.
Before to launch this application, I put the ddls like leyto says :
"copiez \Windows\Bt*.dll dans \Storage Card\InstallSD\IncludeCard\Windows
copiez \Windows\ttn*.dll dans \Storage Card\InstallSD\IncludeCard\Windows
copiez \Windows\TomTom*.dll dans \Storage Card\InstallSD\IncludeCard\Windows
COUPEZ \Program Files\Navigator\*.* dans \Storage Card \Program Files\Navigator très important pour que le bouton Tomtom fonctionne." (here i put the demonfatal navigator with ttn7bot.exe
"
Copiez le rep "tomtom" que vous trouverez à la racine de votre gps dans le répertoire "my documents" présent à la racine de votre carte SD (\Storage Card\my documents\)"
I put the card of france 825 2159 in my documents.
Someone can help me ?

em , i got another map Australia_815_2086 i have tried and i got same problem!
Why have you not tried the 830.2290 ?
The 815 is outdated.
Maybe you have to put the mapfolder into the root of your device - on some devices it is not so easy to find the right folder for themaps.
Sometimes it is reported to work if the map folder is in the folder for the navigator.

Thxs demonfatal for the file, but it doesn't work ...
I directly go to the step 25 of your tutorial (before I have modified the map for my tomtom).
I put mapsettings.cfg in the directory map.
Then I follow the tutorial.
I put the directory mapsettings in the tt7.wce.4.2 directory.
But can I put too the data.chk and tt7450.exe (which I find in your last package vm950) in this directory ?
When I launch tomtom, is it with the tt7navigator.exe file or with tt7450.exe file ?
I try all then I always have the message "not enought memory"
I modified the tt7 navigator.mscr, I replace tomtom navigator.exe in the last line, runwait, by tt7450.exe then the gps is blocking.
What I do wrong ?

Well, the new maps (835) have been released, and I eagerly installed them on my Navman icn 520. I can report that I got 835.2420 Western and Central Europe 2GB maps working, yay!
How you ask? well, a quick reference:
If you have the 7.91 core working, all you have to do is generate 2 dct files, 1 for the 7.45 core and 1 for the 7.91 core. If you're working with 7.45, all you need it the 7.45 core dct. I'm assuming you're running the 7.91 core.
1- So make the dct's with your favorite tool, mine is "Easyusetools". (<--option 1, then 1, and for 745 option 2, then 1) (rename the dct's after you create one so you can see which core it's for and copy to the map directory)
2- make the 7.45 core dct the current dct (the filename should be <mapname>.meta.dct, ie "Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB-69.meta.dct")
3- run the tt7bot, go to "prepare route" and make a short route and exit TomTom
4- check for a file called Mapsettings.cfg in the map dir and create a backup copy in the map dir (eg Mapsettings.bak) (If you haven't got a mapsettings file, there's something wrong with the install)
5- make the 7.91core dct the current dct and run "TomTom Navigator.exe"
6- congratulations, you're done!
To make a backup of your Mapsettings.cfg and put it back if need be I have created a (Mort)script to facilitate that. Saves you a bit of time when on the road and the installation stops working 'cause of a missing route in Mapsettings.cfg.
Also I added a speedcams delete, for it's illegal in Germany and Switzerland to have these on your PNA. However I "cleverly" renamed them all with inconspicuous names and put a backup in the "\Storage card\My Docs" folder, and created a different copy script to copy those if I have to delete them (It makes more sense when you look at the script...). Obviously you need to edit the directory names in the script to match your own.
I created a shortcut in the start menu (which is located on "\My Flash Disk\Unlock\Programs" in my install) to the script which I placed in the "\Storage card\TomTom" directory.
Here's the script:
Choice( "Zongo's menu","Select an option","Backup Mapsettings","Restore Mapsettings","Delete Speedcams","Restore Speedcams" )
Case( 1 )
Ans = Question( "Save Mapsettings backup? ROUTE MUST BE IN PLACE", "Save mapsettings", "YesNo" )
If ( Ans eq YES )
Copy( "\Storage Card\WCE_2GB_835_2420\Mapsettings.cfg", "\Storage Card\WCE_2GB_835_2420\Mapsettings.bak", TRUE )
Message( "Mapsettings backed up", "Ready!" )
Else
Message( "Mapsettings not backed up.", "Info" )
EndIf
Exit
Case( 2 )
Ans = Question( "Restore Mapsettings?", "Restore mapsettings", "YesNo" )
If ( Ans eq YES )
Copy( "\Storage Card\WCE_2GB_835_2420\Mapsettings.bak", "\Storage Card\WCE_2GB_835_2420\Mapsettings.cfg", TRUE )
Message( "Mapsettings restored", "Ready!" )
Else
Message( "Mapsettings not restored.", "Info" )
EndIf
Exit
Case( 3 )
Ans = Question( "Delete cams?", "Delete", "YesNo" )
If ( Ans eq YES )
Delete( "\Storage Card\WCE_2GB_835_2420\*.bmp" )
Delete( "\Storage Card\WCE_2GB_835_2420\*ov2*" )
Message( "Cams deleted", "Ready!" )
Else
Message( "Cams not deleted.", "Info" )
EndIf
Exit
Case( 4 )
Ans = Question( "Restore cams?", "Restore", "YesNo" )
If ( Ans eq YES )
RunWait("\My Flash Disk\Unlock\Tools\~bckp.mscr"
Message( "Cams restored", "Ready!" )
Else
Message( "Cams not restored.", "Info" )
EndIf
Exit
Case( 0 )
Exit
EndChoice
Exit
enjoy!
- once you have a good mapsettings.cfg, (with a route in place) do make a backup, so that you can put it back with a filemanager (installed on the device) on the road
- Install in dir: \Storage Card\TomTom
- GPS device setting: NMEA or other GPS device, 4800 baud, serial connection
current config:
TT: v7.910.9185
Map: Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_830_2306
Device: Navman iCN 520
OS: WinCE 4.2

Hi I have a 5" pna OEM= YF Atlas4 V3.6. E50.6.1. made by Y F International LTD. it has sirf4,128Mb rom and 64Mb ram a 500mhz cpu running wince6.0. I have managed to install latest tomtom with uk 835 maps using your great tutorial. However I find that it runs very slowly the position lags behind, the maps move slowly and menus change slowly gps is set to com1 other nem device baud rate 4800 bps.t seems like the processors clock speed is halfed.
I have the same software and map set up on a navigo V3 3.5"sifr3, with wince 5.0 372mhz cpu and 64mb ram. without the script file / map cfg etc and it runs perfectly . any ideas what could be causing this lag? thanks.
Update: I have tried many tweeks to remove the lag including moving the status bar to vertical. I thought tis may take some load off the graphic processing (leves a 75mmX75mm map instead of a 100mmX70mm)this seemed to make a slight difference. not many of the other tweeks made any difference however in desperation I reset TomTom via its menu settings and all seems a lot faster. I am not sure if it will last though as I have not done a power off yet only put device in sleep mode. Wll update again when I have used it a lot more.
I would like to take the time to say a big thank youto Deamonfatal for his brilliant almost foolproof Tutorial. THANK YOU!!!
A few more days driving with tomtom and?
I am unable to find just what is causing the slow response of the unit. it is not a permanent fault. Sometimes I will power on and all is as it should be with the pointer updating every second or so and the menus vchange as normal. However other times I get a very slow response from the unit with the pointer updating at 3 to 4 seccond intervals and the menus just as slow. other programs work Ok ie igo-8 and Igo-Amigo. I have tried diferent sd cards from 1GB to a 4GB sdhc. I have tried a direct launch of tomtom ie shell.ini and also from a menu using a version of system info.with the same results. If it starts at a fast speed it will remain at that speed. However if it starts at a slow speed it will remain at that slow speed..
I hope that someone can point me in the right direction to fix this small glitch.
Update: After lots of different settings and cofigurations I have finaly solved the problem. The trick was to follow the tutorial and create a working TomTom folder on the sdmmc card then to move that folder from the storage card (SDMMC) to the device memory (residentflash) then it is just a matter of altering the various paths in the script file to suit. The map dir stays on the storage card. Pointing the launch icon to the tt7navigator.exe file and that was me done. Others may have to use a "shell.ini" to launch the exe file. Hope this is of some help to someone.

Very useful tutorial. I was getting this "Not enough memory" issue earlier, and had wasted a lot of time trying different sort of solution until I found this thread. I must say, it is a fantastic piece of tutorial, with clear and precise steps listed, and I finally get my low cost Chinese made GPS working.
One thing I notice though is if I change to another map, other than the one I used through the set-up, it will screw up the already functioning TT7. I guess this has to do with the mapsettings.cfg created earlier, or may be not????
Another thing I found is if I want to keep my home address remembered or managing the POI, I have to do it before step 24. So I won't lose the settings every time I quit the program.
