I didn't write this skin, I just added a 400x240 version and added the IGO8 Ultra voice alerts.

These pictures come from the 400x240 version and some of the menu buttons are not correct.

To install this skin, copy this ZIP archive to "\iGo8\Content\Skin" directory,
run iGo, and then select "diMka" via the "Settings -> Menu -> Skin" menu.

This skin is based on the tebby_b skin "iGo8 ++". Actually, most skins are, even the iGo8 Ultra skin is based on iGo8 ++

This skin adds the following functionality:

==== Ver. 0.1 ====
- New option to always show speed limit on map (when available).
The "Visual Warning" checkbox replaced by a multi-choice control with 3
options - "Off", "Only when speeding" and "On" (new one, to always display
speed limit, as in older iGo versions).

- Added "Route Options" screen with additional settings (allow u-turns,
u-turn penalties and recalculation delay) - available from new "Options"
button on "Route Settings" screen.

- Added "Plan on Map" button (next to "Map") to the startup menu in Advanced
Mode - to go directly to the 2D "route planning" map view.

- Added "Cursor" button to the 2D "route planning" map view to provide direct
access to the enchanced cursor menu.

- Added volume slider to adjust volume of key sounds.

- Added "Scenic View" routing option.

- Tap on the target street name on the top of the screen repeats the last
voice command.

- Increased the target street font size.

- The overspeeding warning range is increased from 130% to 200%.

- Long tap (tap and hold) on the Back button throuout the application brings you back to the map if there is an active route, or to the main menu if there's no active route.

- Added advanced road blocking functionality to setup permanent customizable road blocks. Extented Cursor menu has new button to block/unblock roads, "Manage" menu has new button to access and manage stored road blocks. For each block you can specify the weekdays, and time slots (morning, afternoon, evening, night) when the block is effective.

Specter, I've been using your modded diMka skin for a while, and compared to the Ultra skin and Choup mod, yours is a lot more flexible. I do have a couple of suggestions that I think may be useful.

1). At 100% transparency of the left sidebar in Cockpit mode, when I have "Off" for some of the Data Fields, the white frames of those "off" boxes are still showing. I only use 2 of the 8 Data Fields. I have a 320x240 screen, so basically I'm hoping for the most screen room available on the 6 unused Data Fields.

2). Somewhat related, there's no way to hide the left sidebar completely. In Cockpit mode without a route, you can tap the sidebar and it'll shrink a little thinner to the left. In Cockpit mode with a route, if you tap, it'll simply switch Data Fields. It won't shrink it or hide it completely.

3). Showing house numbers: Is it possible to make it only show house numbers when you're a certain distance away from the destination? Showing house numbers all the time, even on highways, or when you're not close to the destination, can block many things and take up unecessary screen room.

1) I will let testtesttest know about that and see what he can do.

2) you can do a long click on the side bar to make it go to the side like it does when there is no route. On almost every button on the nav screen you can long click and bring up a different function. If you long click the side bar while it is in the closed position it will take you to the settings screens so you can select what values to display. also, you can long press the back arrow from any menu screen and it will jump straight back to the map screen.

3) I will ask testtesttest about the house numbers and getting that option. I may try to add it myself if and have it in my version of his skin.


as far as the 480x272. that can be a problem. i have tried several times to convert it to 480x272 and keep getting errors. for some reason the 480x272 code has different functions than the other resolutions.

The specter version uses the ultra skin voice alerts. the original dimka skin doesn't have built in voice alerts. It does have a patch you can use to get voice alerts. I haven't been able to get them to work on my GPS in 400x240. I get no sound. with the specter version I get sound.

Thank you but i can't take credit for it. The skin was written by diMka or testtesttest (pdamill). I just modified it to work with other resolutions and added the ultra speedcamera alerts.

Just do a long click on it. A short click shows the data for the next waypoint. If you hold your finger on it, it will close.

after you calculate a route go to the plan mode (plan map) and on the top it will say what calculation method was used the total distance and time. just press that bar that is at the very top of the screen. A menu will pop up to allow you to select different methods.

Indeed, on my C520 even with the screen alignment problems in some of the menus, it is still the only iGo8 skin to provide me enough of the same info as the Jerry skin from MioMap3.3 that I can now permanently switch over from MioMap to iGo8.

I'm still playing with the data displayed in the left cockpit window, and discovering which sections disappear when there is no route, but I seem to be able to get all the info I want (I was thrown a bit between "altitude" (shown in miles) and "GPS elevation" (shown in feet). I guess altitude is best for airplanes). Also, the speed limits are quite useful. The 2008.1 USA maps are the first ones I've used with speed limits on major roads. I was surprised the first time the GPS nagged me for speeding!

My only addition would be a bank of buttons to access the C520's extra programs (mp3player, calculator, etc). Put the bank up where the Bluetooth/TMC buttons are...let them be shown/hidden with ease.

Actually, the way the bluetooth button is set up, I was able to set the action to "other" and put "\windows\mp3player.exe" in the custom action field. Works perfectly to bring up the Mio MP3 player.

How do I bring up that bar? Is there a toggle to show/hide it, because I don't even see it on my screen. Do I need to be in "Cockpit" or "Map" mode? Does it only show up when in "routing/directions" mode, or should it always be there? I'm running Mio C320/C520 with latest iGo8 and diMka Specter v 1.3.24 skin.

P.S. I think I just figured it out. Looks like the "Position"/"Cursor" icon is what toggles that toolbar. I'll have to try marking some cameras tomorrow (it seems like every other intersection has them these days).

True. I have the same issue all the time.

Let me do a little research and see what button doesn't have a long click. Then I can set it for a long click to delete the route.

Another question... Is there a way to delete a speed/red light camera after it was saved? I tried saving a red light camera today and somehow the map jumped on me and it saved it way off from where it's supposed to be. Now I can't figure out the way to delete it. I also tried looking in the files to see where that information is saved, but couldn't find anything either. Thanks.

just found something. If you do a long click on the DETOUR button on the right side of the nav screen it will bring you to the route screen and there is the DELETE ROUTE button. diMka thought of everything.

When you switch to routing, it will only show two of your original data selections. they are the top two. if you press them it will show the other 2 from your original data selections. You can cycle between them. The other 4 fields are the fields you set for navigating. There are two screen for setting data fields. Data fields TOP - those are the 4 things you will see when navigating. Data Fields BOTTOM - you will see those as the bottom 4 fields while routing. The top two fieds will be from the Data Fields TOP. hope that makes sense.

I'm working my way backwards through this thread, but I see in this picture the problem I have... the left bar for compass is correct, but the arrow compass on the right side is showing E and W opposite :confused:

North points red up, but as you head East the compass goes counter clockwise not clockwise to 3 o'clock?

Press and hold the left menu for 1-2 secs, it'll dissapear. This also works with all the buttons on the right menu. I'm forgot exactly what which one does but all of them have shortcut keys with a long press.

just found something. If you do a long click on the DETOUR button on the right side of the nav screen it will bring you to the route screen and there is the DELETE ROUTE button. diMka thought of everything.

Now I feel stupid :o, going to have to look again now that I understand.

I had the house numbers at the bottom already- I think from the 1.16 release...crazy thing, but I suppose more map related, or maybe it is software is that on one street when I enter my neighbor hood they start out correct, but by the time I go .25 miles the house numbers jump up at a rate 4X that of what the road actually has... 1 and 2 at the top, but 79 and 80 or possibly higher at the bottom, when it is actually only 17 and 18...

It has my street correct, and my street has cross streets on one side but not the other, so it has strange numbering i.e. 42 on one side and 65 on the opposite...and that one is correct...

I just tested doing an address search on that road, knowing there is nothing over 20, and it put 41 about halway down the road :confused:

Or an error at one end or the other causing the number issues... I suppose my street they got the left and right sides seperately entered so it is just about correct. As my home address I actually use #1 of the cross street as there is no number 1, but it puts me at my driveway...

I was not sure the skin does it, but my ipaq 310 400x240 reboots out of the blue just after a start-up or maybe it's a restart on occasion. And when I got the bluetooth working it did it also, but was outside of IGO...it was running in background though.

Also after exiting i think if I shutdown device and restart and try to restart igo it gives me error it did not finish shutting down previously or something like that- I found that if I count to 10 though before standby I have not seen the message...changing skins caused the error when igo restarts itself i suppose to quickly as well.

I also found that a short click on upper left next turn, you can get to a place where deleting route is selectable and easier to accomplish than the long tap of detour(I think it was mentioned earlier in this thread)...also an extra click of hitting menu and route also gets you there, but if looking for shortest way to delete current route the next turn short click is the way to go.

I now see I can exit and choose Minimize as the option still not as hands free as i would like it to be, but better. and even better if long tap or short tap could do that somewhere rather than 3 clicks as it is now...

I also found click on top bar brought me into itinerary...others may have found, but I'm sure some did not discover yet- I suppose I should read the entire file of options, etc. the skin offers :o

I've been trying to play with the blocked roads section of this skin, but I guess that information comes in from TMC.

Is there any way to put custom blocked roads in the system? Sometimes the GPS wants to route me on a road I never want to take, so I would just like to have that road as permanently blocked.

After looking at the Ultra skin, it looks like the blocked roads can be set for specific days and maybe even times of the day. Any chance of getting that flexibility in the dimka skin?

my Ipaq 310 has random reboots, after restarting within igo, and also had ones when trying to use bluetooth- receiving a call restarted, and also after making a call I tried to while I was in the bluetooth software modify and add a contact and it restarted...another time I was able to get back into igo on my SD with the back button within the OASIS HP screen, another time to get back into minimized igo I had to go back to the Game shortcut that opens igo8 and it brought me back to where I was within software.

I have had random reboots, and also messages igo8 did not close completely...I think if I exit and shutdown to fast, it causes the issues for that, but still other times are out of the blue and my trip computer info resets as well :(

diMka made a few changes. if you go to settings, menu, there is now an option to set the long click of the menu button on the nav screen. You can set it to minimize.

You didn't understand me. This feature does not work in the dark version of skin. I forgot to say that I'm using 400x240.

To be more specific, in files browsemap_400_240.ui and navigatemap_400_240.ui still figure:

If possible, I would like the "next direction" box to repeat the last voice command, and the long-click to be its current behavior.

I would also like to see the record button (next to the mute button) be configurable. Some people have already suggested what they would like the record button be instead.

For example, I do not need the REC and MUTE buttons and I have noticed that I have difficulties when i'm driving and I want to make adjustments. Maybe 6 but a little bigger buttons would be better.

This happens when you have overview enabled and are more than 2 miles from your next maneuver,
you can disable that in your navigation settings, look for overview mode,
you can also set how far out the map shows in overview,
lets say your driving in the desert, and wanted to see how far the next town coming up in the map is.

Here is a sys.txt setting for people that want to hide the arrow under the your car, this makes the 3d arrow about 1/32nd of an inch big, this only effects 3D, not 2D, maybe you can incorporate this setting to be called from the car selection script, you can lower the numbers and make the arrow disappear altogether.

I know there was a post to make the change manually- going to try that, maybe it worked in other version/release, but I just went from 25a to 31b.

Solved the problem,just copy the voice_sound_delays.ini from the file Lionedas gave here into the audio folder and it works :)

Now when you select a POI from the list it will jump straight to the map and it will be the destination. if you want to do things the old way, just use a long click on the POI when you select it.

a couple of ways.

quick menu... select the CAR button, then at the bottom of the screen there is CAR ICON checkbox. check that.

or menu, settings, map screen... press next button on the bottom of the screen, the select CAR ICON checkbox.

i tried both versions in 400x240 and didn't see it in map screen and the navigation screen. it must be related to a setting. i tried turning the car icon on and off but it didn't show up. Was it on your screen right when you switched over to the new skin? Or did you have to start a route or something to see it? I want to try and track this down. i will play around with mine some more and see if i can get it to pop up.

It seemed to pop up when the speed box came up, next to the side panel, but then remained, even after the speed display disappeared.

anyway of getting a screen shot for you, what are you guys using on the ipaq to capture the screen.

the line appeared after I switched from 1.3.31b black to 1.3.33 black,
I selected the car from the main settings screen this time, not from the car button in the quick menu.

after selecting car, I went back to map screen to see if you made any changes, pulled out the left side panel,
and after a few seconds that line popped up, strange thing is it went to 2 lines then even 3, all next to each other, covering the left side panel, about 1/8 inch apart of each other.

I deleted my saved folder, and restarted ill will let you know if it re appears,

also the small square is back at the bottom left corner, when the side panel is extended, a 1/4 inch square does not color itself the same as the bottom bar, it remains transparent, until you click the side panel again.

Did you have the lane info on the screen at the time? I tried simulating a route on a highway that showed the speed and speed limit. I have lanes set on the bottom of the screen.

It could also be something you are displaying in the data field. What data are you displaying? I will try to set mine up like yours and see what happens.

I will have to fix that 1/4" square. it does that on mine too.

OK, #2 should be fixed now. you can download it again.
#1 is normal. try running a route simulation and do it. the car cursor moves over with the car icon.
#3... i will work on that later today.

OK, you can download the diMka Specter skin again. Now when you do a long click on the TURN icon, it will repeat the last command.

You will also notice that when the GPS gives directions it will tell the coming turn and the turn after that. diMka used to have a checkbox to control that. I will add it again, but for now i need it turned on to get it to say the last command.

i see that you changed back the short click/long click functionality for selecting a favorite/poi/history. well, when i long click a fav/poi/history with 1.3.33d, no matter what i pick it sets the destination as ... exactly where i am. so the route is very short. :/ i switched back to 1.3.33c and now the short click works fine, and sets the destination.

anyone else notice this?

OK, you can download the diMka Specter skin again. Now when you do a long click on the TURN icon, it will repeat the last command.

You will also notice that when the GPS gives directions it will tell the coming turn and the turn after that. diMka used to have a checkbox to control that. I will add it again, but for now i need it turned on to get it to say the last command.

Sorry about that... i finished up late last night and didn't notice it was screwing up. you can download 1.3.33d again. I had to remove the changes to favorites and history for now. Set POIs selection to short click for destination and long click for a regular selection......

The last 2 days my ipaq has not had time correct- I had it set to do that- could the skin be effecting this?- i just downloaded the 33d, so I'll see what happens...

On another note, since time was wrong it was in night mode- and using the blue???? I notice the arror car has headlights on, anyway I can make them a little dimmer?

I think making it repeat the last command with a single click on the turn icon and a long click for the route info would be better(Imo last command is more important the showing the route info) ,but its up to you to decide :)

OK, #2 should be fixed now. you can download it again.
#1 is normal. try running a route simulation and do it. the car cursor moves over with the car icon.
#3... i will work on that later today.

I tried 1.3.33c Dark and 1.3.33d Dark on my C320 (272x480) and I'm still seeing a purple scribble on the 2D and Map screens. I'm not sure if you worked on #3 (Sound Settings graphics) but that is unchanged in the last 2 versions.

I Created folder NAV\audio with all the files from the US audio file from your site.

It doesn't matter what I select, I can't hear anything, American, English, German, Martian, man I hear nothing, nothing works.

But the warnings work when I switch back to 1.3.33d

to further test it, I created a folder igo8\audio, in my sd card, but still nothing!

I created igo8\audio, and placed it in ipaq, and in the root of Residentflash, still nothing, I deleted my saved folder, and reset my registry to factory original, still nothing,

are you sure you can hear voices when you tap the test screen, I have ultra voices selected, I have alert 6, on the bottom right, that I can hear loud and clear, just no voices when I tap the screen above that.


Can you tell me how you have your ipaq setup, I am running igo8 from the ResidentFlash\ipaq\NAV folder.

why the extra audio folder in the skin, if we have to download audio folder anyway, do we still need that,

I think the description on my site is not very clear. the directory it should be in is audio\US\ in that directory you should have voice_male and voice_female. that should fix your poblem.. sorry for the confusion.

I didn't create that skin, but did try it on my ipaq 310 and it worked. Maybe you just need to reboot your device and try again.

Thanks jakas. It works good. So far the only menu problem I've found is on the 2nd Map Screen Settings page. The last graphic is in Italian (I think). It says "Impostazaioni Varie". The Sound Settings screen graphics are now aligned correctly. I still have a purple scribble on the 2-D and Map screens but it doesn't bother me because I never use those modes.

Couple of notes...since I have a 520 and Moov 200, I've got both the 1.3.33aABTC and 1.4.5a.

For 1.3.33aABTC (C520, 480x272):

1. As noted earlier: Map Screen Settings, screen 2, last item is not english.
2. Warning->Speed Camera Warning is mostly in another language. Unless I've got something totally wrong, that screen looks totally different than the 1.4.5 version.

I love the ability to modify the car...the default headlights washed out too much of the map before.

For 1.4.5a (Moov 200, 320x240):
The only thing I can find negative about this one is that I want the Car customization screen from 1.3.33aABTC!

a) make sure you leave the file zipped. iGo 8 only recognizes zip files for skins
b) If you already did that try downloading the skin again
c) make sure the name is 'skin' all lower case (I am not sure if that matters or not but it can't hurt)

Hi there fackinacer,

1. Make sure you use skin 1.50a dark, as the light version does not work in 480 x 272 resolution.
2. Make sure your data.zip is OK. For me, using the latest 30th July IGO8 PNA release I had all kinds of errors with various dimka skins. In the end I made my own data.zip file by using the PDA (not PNA) data.zip from the same 30th July release and adding a 480 x 272 file to the ui_igo8 folder (in fact I removed all other resolutions from this folder so only 480 x 272 is there).
3. Until I replaced the data zip I also had TMC receiver detected but no scanning. I also lost the GPS receiver and could not get it back. What I did was remove all setup information from the "save" folder within IGO8 (make sure you back up the contents just in case), and then did a hard reset. You will find you have to install all your setting from the start (language, detect GPS, detect TMC etc) but the system then worked for me....with the new Data.zip

Hi there,

Unfortunately I cant upload...but I use Jzip and its a doddle. You just need the two data.zips from the latest July 30th release (PDA and PNA) and add the 480 x 272 resolution file from the PNA version to the ui_igo8 folder within the data zip of the PDA version. You can copy and paste, Jzip will do everything else.

Works for me anyway, and the data.zip supplied in Jetmouse's 30th July PNA release gave me all kinds of ffuierrors on Medion PNA465.

Interestigly, other skins worked (RIKS, IGO8 ++) without problem with the original data.zip, but I think Dimka skin is the best.

No, what I have is Nav N Go iGO 8 v8.0.0.49545 (Jul 30 2008) - Official Content Manager Update from Jetmouse on ppcwarez. This is the latest cracked official IGO8 version and therefore has all the latest official bugfixes.

You will find full PDA install files and full PNA install files.

I have run every release of IGO8 and this is the most stable with no glitches or errors at all, and TMC PRO for the UK with excellent traffic updates. BUT, I had the problem with dimka skins and the PNA data.zip

I had problems with the language files as I thought (and it was instructed) that you need an audio/UK or audio/US sub-directory containing the male and female voice files. But this is incorrect, you must have files in Audio/EN subdirectory (whether US or UK English) according to latest instructions on i-go8.com website. My English voices now work perfectly as they are placed in an EN folder within the audio file.


This version 1.50a skin is great but I notice one or two minor points in 480 x 272 resolution

1. the 'tabs' for the front and rear car light intensity are too big
2. under settings/TMC the rectangle containing 'TMC Present' is offset to the left
3. under settings/sound the 'dynamic volume' tab is too large and out of alignment
4. under setting/warnings the 'warn when speeding' and 'speedcamera warning' tabs are too large

Don't see any others and great skin!

Thanks John Jones on the EN - I actually just saw that... vs. the UK, but now wondering why I had female American working...maybe just in audio folder works, if you only have 1 language...my American ones US were there from the beginning- older versions

UK and US females sound the same- I now have English able to select both.

You may have the Italian text for the map screen settings page 2 last item, unless you are using language for menus other than English, then maybe it is OK?

looks like as of tuesday 9/23 6am CST, both diMka Version 1.5.0a LIGHT and DARK are working fine now. the italian button on settings -> map screen page 2 is now correctly labeled "Miscellaneous settings". also, the speedcam ultra voices work -- unzip Audio_US_english.zip so that you have \igo8\audio\US\voice_female and \voice_male. then go to settings -> warnings -> click the speed camera warning [...], then go to the bottom and click another [...], and at the bottm select Sound files: Ultra. then go back one menu, and in the middle click on Lang: until your desired language is selected. when your language/voice is selected, you should hear a preview message ("Mobile camera, no speed limit available").

Just minor bugs to point out:
1) settings -> map screen, page 2, the Cursor Car button is still overlapping the [...] box
2) settings -> sound, the Dynamic Volume button is offset to the left, and the associated [...] box is offset a little high
3) settings -> warnings, the Warn When Speeding and Speed Camera Warning boxes both overlap their associated [...] boxes
4) settings -> warnings -> speed camera warning -> [...], the top four boxes overlap each other (Visual warning, Audible warning, When approaching, When overspeeding)
5) settings -> menu -> background, all the boxes overlap each other a bit in the middle
6) settings -> menu -> Start:no route button, the text overlaps if you select Main Menu or Plan Map

These are just minor cosmetic things. The skin is awesome and totally increases/improves the functionality!

Seperate similar question to yours- I've been wondering if there is a way to get to the map zoom functions to come up easier as sometimes the map location clicked on is selected as the cursor location- Is there a way to bring up the zoom controls without touching a location on the map?

Seperate similar question to yours- I've been wondering if there is a way to get to the map zoom functions to come up easier as sometimes the map location clicked on is selected as the cursor location- Is there a way to bring up the zoom controls without touching a location on the map?

Don't know. That's a skin issue and I try not to modify the skins much. Maybe someone else knows what has to be changed in the skin.

Just minor bugs to point out:
1) settings -> map screen, page 2, the Cursor Car button is still overlapping the [...] box
2) settings -> sound, the Dynamic Volume button is offset to the left, and the associated [...] box is offset a little high
3) settings -> warnings, the Warn When Speeding and Speed Camera Warning boxes both overlap their associated [...] boxes
4) settings -> warnings -> speed camera warning -> [...], the top four boxes overlap each other (Visual warning, Audible warning, When approaching, When overspeeding)
5) settings -> menu -> background, all the boxes overlap each other a bit in the middle
6) settings -> menu -> Start:no route button, the text overlaps if you select Main Menu or Plan Map

These are just minor cosmetic things. The skin is awesome and totally increases/improves the functionality!

Specter, Your work on these skins is amazing. To add to TheTodd34's list, the Settings -> Map Screen -> 2nd page, bottom text box says "Imposazioni Varie". I thought it had been translated back to English in a recent version.

titanium try downloading 1.50 light and dark again. as of right now they both correctly say "Miscellaneous Settings" instead of "Imposazioni Varie". looks like this was changed from earlier versions of 1.50, but the actual version number and file name was kept the same.

that is correct. i generally don't update the version number if it is a quick fix since new versions come out so quickly anyways. it's been a new version every other day lately.

How do you view the information about the POI you have chosen. Seems like these newer versions bypass this screen that use to be there and go directly to routing to your destination.

Just love the skip. Looks very good. I have put the zip-file in content/skin and made a NL map in audio map and put the appropiate files there.

When I start IGO 8 and try to select the diMka skip..it is not there to chosse from. Use Ultra Skin 5.0 now and have HTC TyTn II.

Help will be hihgly appriciated.

Try and re-download the skin. One time it only downloaded part of the file so I didn't see the skin. I re-downloaded it and it was OK.

Have you tried to do a soft reset... Also make sure that's a ZIP and not a RAR file

in 1.50b I like the added favorites choices to map, but POI select the map on short or long makes destination and also the bottom bar remains in background from the POI search ???

Is it possible to change the font on streetnames on the map in daytime scheme with diMka skin active. I think it is very difficult to read the streetnames with the type of font selected (I think the font is called tahomabd). I want more like the Arial fonttype. Is it just to change the file tahomabd.ttf with another font file or...?

Came up in another thread- wondering if you have the audio folder correct within Igo8\audio\EN or UK or whatever Language and country letters you need... also the sound delay ini and other file in those folders with the female and male folders...

I tried the ultra 5.0 plus skin and it kept giving me an error, because it wanted the files in root without the country 2 letter structure...

You might want to try an older dimka skin, and see what happens.

I got the same error but I can still use the skin after click OK. Never have this before. Hope it will be fixed soon! I am using 4.3" Chinese GPS with IGO 8.0.0.54000

In other thread concerning v54000 I responded to possible bug inquiring about skin used...

Wondering if it is skin related that made the symbols behind text disappear...

I use v54000 now and the dimka skin in the past had the symbols and no longer does for the top and bottom bars with newer release???

Wondering if others with older igo8 using newest skin have the symbols or vice versa...

both work fine. can't notice anything obviously different, but those ffuierror's on startup are gone.
